The NCAA Tournament is flooded with big advertising dollars. Practically everything is sponsored by some sort of brand. The pre-game, the actual game, the uniforms, the scoreboard, the basketball goals, the replays, the highlights, the timeouts, the halftime show, the post-game, even the ladder to cut down the nets after the championship. All of this, just to watch these "amateurs" play. Shouldn't the players receive more than just a scholarship?
"Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver roasts the NCAA for their money-grab while still refusing to pay the athletes. He rips the NCAA for their hypocrisy of how they justify their stance by promoting the notion of the "student-athlete" and amateurism. Meanwhile, the NCAA signed a 14-year, $10.8B deal with CBS & Turner, to air the NCAA basketball tournament. You do the math.
